Establishment of the organization :
Jessore
Federation of the blind (JFB) was established on 29 May 1978 with some socially
conscious visually impaired people. Apart that the Jessore district is border areas of, it is also a town with
many problems, crimes and drugs. In this
context, the number of Visually Impaired People is constantly increasing.
According to the survey, 15.6% of the people in Jessore district are admitting
disability in one way or another. JFB was born with the aim of developing the
destiny of the visually impaired people of Jessore and making them
self-reliant. It is mentioned that Jessore Blind Organization has been working
successfully through local donations. Jessore Blind Organization will be able
to serve the visually impaired and poor people more quickly with the help of
partner organizations and donor groups.
Vision of JFB :
To develop a
society where all people irrespective of their faith, color, race and Visually
Impaired person will have the right to enjoy equal rights, status, dignities
and opportunities in respect of human being. JFB envisions that all Visually
Impaired People irrespective of caste, creed & religion will be
self-reliant & dignified through establishment of their equal rights &
opportunities encompassing mainstreaming in the society.
Mission of JFB :
The main
mission of JFB is to make effort to improve the socio economic condition of the
Visually Impaired, disadvantaged people, human rights-especially women &
children, poor distressed and destitute persons. Socio-economic up-liftment of
the Visually Impaired People with health & hygiene, education, self-help,
human rights, gender equity, income generation, recreation & shelter
through multipurpose skills development training & improvement of
environment.
Goal of JFB : The overall goal of JFB To make a strong National
Organization by which to establish equal rights and opportunities for people
with all types of Visually Impaired, disadvantaged people, human
rights-especially women, poor distressed and destitute persons in Bangladesh.
Governance of the Activities of the Organization :
The activities
of JFB are governed by an 11 member Executive Committee elected every two years
by the General Council of 41 members coming from all the walks of life of the
society. The Executive Director of JFB with the assistance of other secretarial
staffs is doing all official and organizational works as the Chief Executive of
the organization and he is also responsible for implementation of all the
projects. He is responsible to implement the decision of Executive Committee
and General Council. There is also a 7-member advisory committee of JFB where
the important personalities provide valuable suggestion and advices for the
progress of the organization.
